Engineering the 8,400-lb Threshold
The Max Trailering Package is more than a hitch. It adds extra cooling hardware designed to help the Tahoe stay confident under load, especially in Oklahoma heat. With a heavy-duty cooling fan and a higher-capacity radiator, the powertrain and transmission can manage temperature better during long pulls or stop-and-go towing in 100-degree Tulsa summers.
It also helps to know what your Tahoe is equipped with for low-speed pulling. Models with the available 2-speed Autotrac transfer case (standard on Z71 and available on other trims) include a 4-Lo setting. That lower range can be especially useful when you need extra control and leverage, like pulling a boat up a steep ramp at Keystone State Park.
