2027 Equinox Specs
2027 Chevrolet Equinox Specs in Tulsa, OK
175 horsepower and 27 MPG combined on the gas Equinox, 319 miles of EPA-estimated range on the EV, with every dimension sourced. Tulsa, OK.
The 2027 Chevrolet Equinox lineup that Tulsa shoppers walk into at Jim Norton T-Town Chevrolet is really two separate vehicles wearing one nameplate. The gas Equinox is a compact two-row, five-passenger crossover built around a 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder rated at 175 hp @ 5,600 rpm and 203 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic on both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The Equinox EV is a battery-electric midsize SUV on its own architecture, with an 85 kWh battery, single-speed direct drive, and an EPA-estimated 319 miles of range on front-wheel-drive models. Different platform, different body, different dimensions, different screen, different warranty structure. Nothing here crosses between them.
This is the deep specification page for the cluster, and it carries the full data set: powertrain, exterior and interior dimensions, cargo volume in every configuration, towing, wheels and tires, EPA fuel economy and MPGe, EV range and charging, the technology stack, the complete safety content, and warranty terms. If you want the trim-by-trim price ladder and step-up economics instead, that lives on our 2027 Equinox trims page, and the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox Overview is the short version of the whole model year. Broken Arrow, Sand Springs and Glenpool drivers cross-shopping the two powertrains against each other should read the gas vs EV comparison after this one.

Powertrain Specifications for the 2027 Equinox and Equinox EV
One engine covers the entire gas lineup and one electric drive unit covers the entire EV lineup, which makes this the simplest part of the decision. There is no hybrid Equinox for 2027, and there is no V6 option. What changes between trims is equipment, not propulsion.
2027 Equinox: 1.5L Turbo
The 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder is standard on LT, RS and ACTIV. For 2027 the 8-speed automatic is standard on front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive, so the continuously variable transmission used on the previous model year is gone from the lineup entirely. That matters if you are comparing a 2027 build against a used 2026 car on the same lot. All-wheel drive is available on every trim for $2,000 over the same trim in front-wheel drive.
2027 Equinox EV: single-speed direct drive
The Equinox EV uses an 85 kWh battery and a single-speed direct-drive transmission, with front-wheel drive standard and all-wheel drive available. Because there is no multi-ratio gearbox, there is no shift event at all: torque arrives from a standstill, which is exactly the behavior that makes the merge from Memorial Drive onto the Broken Arrow Expressway feel effortless.
| Powertrain spec | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Propulsion | 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder | Battery-electric, 85 kWh battery |
| Horsepower | 175 hp @ 5,600 rpm | See the Equinox EV page for current output figures |
| Torque | 203 lb-ft | See the Equinox EV page for current output figures |
| Transmission | 8-speed automatic, standard on FWD and AWD | Single-speed direct drive |
| Drivetrain | FWD standard, AWD available on every trim | FWD standard, AWD available |
| Final drive ratio | 3.47 | Not applicable |
| Fuel or energy | Regular unleaded, E15 capable, 14.8 gal tank | Electricity, standard NACS charging port |
| Suspension | MacPherson strut front, 4-link rear, four-wheel independent with front and rear stabilizer bars | Not published by Chevrolet at this level of detail |
| Other standard equipment | Drive Mode Selector, Automatic Stop/Start | 11.5 kW capable onboard charging module |
The gas Equinox sends its 175 hp and 203 lb-ft through an 8-speed automatic, and the Equinox EV drives through a single-speed direct-drive unit fed by an 85 kWh battery. The 2027 Equinox EV page takes the electric car trim by trim, and earlier electric model years sit on the Chevrolet Equinox EV research hub.
Exterior Dimensions and How Each Equinox Parks in Tulsa
The EV is the bigger vehicle by every exterior measure that Chevrolet publishes: 7.4 inches longer, 8.8 inches longer in wheelbase, and lower by 0.8 inches. The gas car sits noticeably higher off the ground. Read the width row carefully, because the two figures are measured on different bases and a like-for-like comparison is only possible on the without-mirrors numbers.
| Exterior dimension | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 183.2 in. | 190.6 in. |
| Wheelbase | 107.5 in. | 116.3 in. |
| Width, without mirrors | 74.9 in. | 76.9 in. |
| Width, with mirrors | Not published on this basis | 84.9 in. |
| Height | 65.6 in. | 64.8 in. |
| Minimum ground clearance | 8.08 in. | 6.4 in. |
| Track width | 63.8 in. front, 63.9 in. rear | Not published by Chevrolet |
| Base curb weight | 3,428 pounds, LT front-wheel drive | Not published by Chevrolet |
| Curb weight range, unloaded | 3,428 to 3,629 pounds by drive type, trim and equipment | Not published by Chevrolet |
| GVWR | 4,850 pounds, LT front-wheel drive | Read the door-jamb label of the individual vehicle |
| Final assembly | Mexico | Mexico |
The 4,850-pound GVWR is the LT front-wheel-drive figure and is not a lineup blanket, and neither figure should be used to work out a payload number. On the EV, gross vehicle weight rating varies enough by drive type and equipment that Chevrolet routes it to the label inside the driver's door on the specific vehicle. Bring the VIN to us at 4924 S Memorial Dr and we will read it with you.
Interior Space, Seating and Cargo Volume for Tulsa Families
Both Equinox models seat five in two rows. Neither offers a third row. This is the section most Broken Arrow families actually decide on, so it runs in full: seat dimensions by row first, then cargo volume in each configuration.
Seat dimensions by row
| Measurement | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Front headroom | 40.0 in. | 39.2 in. |
| Front legroom | 40.9 in. | 41.7 in. |
| Front shoulder room | 57.7 in. | 58.6 in. |
| Front hip room | 54.2 in. | Not published by Chevrolet |
| Rear headroom | 39.2 in. | 38.5 in. |
| Rear legroom | 39.9 in. | 38.0 in. |
| Rear shoulder room | 55.8 in. | 55.5 in. |
| Rear hip room | 51.7 in. | Not published by Chevrolet |
| Total passenger volume | 104.3 cu. ft. | Not published by Chevrolet |
| Seating capacity | 5 | 5 |
The gas Equinox wins the second row on the two numbers a back-seat passenger notices, headroom and legroom, and the EV takes the front row on legroom and shoulder room. Neither is close enough to be a deal-breaker, which is why Sand Springs and Glenpool shoppers usually settle it from the driver's seat rather than from a tenth of an inch on paper. Book that at our test drive page.
Cargo volume, stated by configuration
Cargo is where the two vehicles genuinely separate, and it separates in the direction most people do not expect: the shorter gas Equinox carries more behind the second row and more with the seats down. Every figure below states which configuration it belongs to, because a maximum and a behind-the-rear-seats figure are not interchangeable.
| Cargo configuration | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Behind the second row, seats up | 29.8 cu. ft. | 26.4 cu. ft. |
| Maximum, rear seats folded | 63.5 cu. ft. | 57.2 cu. ft. |
| Gain from folding the rear seats | 33.7 cu. ft. | 30.8 cu. ft. |
| Roof-mounted side rails | Available on LT, standard on RS and ACTIV; roof rack cross rails available | Standard on LT 2 and RS, not offered on LT 1 |
Twenty-nine point eight cubic feet behind the rear seats is a full grocery run from the store at Woodland Hills Mall with a stroller still in the back. Fold the 2027 Equinox flat and 63.5 cu. ft. takes flat-packed furniture home down the Creek Turnpike without a trailer. If you routinely carry long items, order the roof rack cross rails on the gas car, which are available across the range and pair with the side rails.
Towing and Capability, Properly Equipped
Both 2027 Equinox models tow the same figure, and the two ratings must never be blended into one sentence about "the Equinox" because they belong to two different vehicles that happen to land on the same number.
- 2027 Equinox (gas): up to 1,500 lbs, properly equipped.
- 2027 Equinox EV: 1,500 lbs, properly equipped.
Properly equipped is the operative phrase on both. The rating assumes the correct hitch and wiring for the specific build, and it is a maximum rather than a starting point. Fifteen hundred pounds covers a small utility trailer, a pair of personal watercraft on a light trailer heading for the Arkansas River, or a single-axle box trailer for a move within Tulsa County. It does not cover a travel trailer, and if that is the plan, our sales team will move you up the lineup rather than sell you the wrong vehicle. On the gas car, the standard Drive Mode Selector and available all-wheel drive are the two options that most change how a loaded Equinox behaves on a wet on-ramp.
Wheels, Tires and Brakes
Wheel size is one of the few specification choices that changes both the look and the ride, so it is worth deciding before you order rather than after. The gas Equinox tops out at a 20-inch machined wheel on RS; the Equinox EV goes to 21 inches.
| Model and trim | Wheels | Tires and brakes |
|---|---|---|
| Equinox RS (gas) | 19-in. standard, 20-in. machined available | Four-wheel antilock disc brakes with FNC-coated rotors |
| Equinox ACTIV (gas) | Wheel size not published on the ACTIV card | All-terrain tires with a uniquely-tuned suspension; four-wheel antilock disc brakes with FNC-coated rotors |
| Equinox EV LT 1 and LT 2 | 19-in. machined-face aluminum standard, 21-in. aluminum available | Brake specification not published by Chevrolet |
| Equinox EV RS | 21-in. Black wheels | Brake specification not published by Chevrolet |
The available 21-inch aluminum wheels on the Equinox EV come in machined-face, Black painted, Gloss Black and Tech Bronze finishes. On the gas ACTIV, the all-terrain tires and the retuned suspension are the trim's real content, not the badging, and they are the reason ACTIV is the build we point toward gravel county roads out toward Okmulgee. Tire rotation for either car runs every 7,500 miles, which our 2027 Equinox service page covers in full.
Fuel Economy and Driving Range on the Gas Equinox
EPA figures below are from fueleconomy.gov, which is the establishing source for an EPA rating. The front-wheel-drive Equinox is rated at 27 MPG combined and the all-wheel-drive car at 26, with identical city and highway figures between them.
| Configuration | City | Highway | Combined | Total range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 Equinox FWD | 25 MPG | 29 MPG | 27 MPG | 400 miles |
| 2027 Equinox AWD | 25 MPG | 29 MPG | 26 MPG | 406 miles |
| 2027 Equinox EV AWD | 112 MPGe | 95 MPGe | 103 MPGe | 307 miles EPA-estimated |
EPA-estimated figures, source: fueleconomy.gov. Your actual mileage will vary with driving habits, load, weather and route. A 14.8-gallon tank at 27 MPG combined is the reason the front-wheel-drive Equinox posts a 400-mile total range: that is Tulsa to Dallas and a good way back on one fill. The all-wheel-drive car gives up one MPG combined and, because of how the EPA calculates total range, actually lists slightly farther at 406 miles.
Equinox EV Range and Charging around Tulsa
The 2027 Equinox EV is rated at an EPA-estimated 319 miles of range on front-wheel-drive models and an EPA-estimated 307 miles on available all-wheel-drive models. Those are two different configurations and the 319-mile figure belongs to front-wheel drive only. Both numbers are strong for the segment, so there is no reason to reach for the wrong one.
| Range and charging spec | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|
| EPA-estimated range, front-wheel drive | 319 miles |
| EPA-estimated range, available all-wheel drive | 307 miles |
| Battery | 85 kWh |
| Charging port | NACS, standard for 2027 |
| DC fast charging peak | Up to 150 kW |
| DC fast charging result | Up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes on public DC fast charging |
| Onboard charging module | 11.5 kW capable, standard |
| Home charging time, 240-volt | About 9.5 hours |
| Energy consumption, all-wheel drive | 33 kWh per 100 miles |
The standard NACS port is the headline change for 2027 and it is the one specification a 2026 page will get wrong: the previous model year used a CCS port, and the 2027 car does not. NACS expands access to more charging stations, which is what an Oklahoma road-trip charge stop actually turns on. The onboard module is 11.5 kW capable for 2027. For a Broken Arrow or Sand Springs driver on a 240-volt home charger, a full charge takes about 9.5 hours, so a car plugged in after dinner is at full range before the morning run down Highway 51.
Key Features by Trim for Tulsa Shoppers
This is the short decision grid, not the full walk. Every cell below is a published figure at that trim's scope. The complete per-trim breakdown with pricing lives on the trims page.
Technology on the 2027 Equinox and Equinox EV

Safety and Driver Assistance Technology in Tulsa Traffic
The 2027 Equinox comes with over 15 standard safety and driver assistance features, including Chevy Safety Assist, a package of six advanced features. The 2027 Equinox EV comes with over 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. Both counts are Chevrolet's own, and the content differs enough between the two vehicles that it is set out separately below.
| Safety content | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Standard feature count | Over 15 standard safety and driver assistance features | Over 20 standard safety and driver assistance features |
| Automatic Emergency Braking | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Intersection Auto Emergency Braking, standard |
| Front Pedestrian Braking | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Standard |
| Forward Collision Alert | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Following Distance Indicator | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| IntelliBeam | Standard, in Chevy Safety Assist | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Adaptive Cruise Control | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car | Standard |
| HD Surround Vision | Available | Standard; called out on LT 2 and above |
| Enhanced Auto Park Assist | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car | Standard |
| Side Bicyclist Alert | Available | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Rear Camera Mirror | Available | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Rear Cross Traffic Braking | Available | Not on Chevrolet's published list for this car |
| Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance | Not offered on the gas Equinox for 2027 | Available |
Super Cruise is the one feature worth being direct about, because it is the question we get most often in the showroom on Memorial Drive. For 2027 it is an Equinox EV feature and it is not offered on the gas Equinox. If hands-free highway driving on the Creek Turnpike or the run to Okmulgee is the reason you are shopping, the Equinox EV is the car in this family that offers it, and our Equinox EV page covers it in detail.
Warranty Coverage on Both 2027 Equinox Models
Coverage is identical on the bumper-to-bumper term and diverges on the electrified components, where the Equinox EV adds an 8-year battery warranty and a longer towing term.
| Coverage | 2027 Equinox (gas) | 2027 Equinox EV |
|---|---|---|
| Bumper-to-bumper | 3 years / 36,000 miles | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
| Powertrain or drivetrain | 5 years / 60,000 miles | Covered under the battery and electric components term below |
| Battery and electric components | Not applicable | 8 years / 100,000 miles |
| Corrosion | 3 years / 36,000 miles | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
| Rust-through | 6 years / 100,000 miles | 6 years / 100,000 miles |
| Roadside assistance | 5 years / 60,000 miles | 5 years / 60,000 miles; towing 8 years / 100,000 miles |
| Scheduled maintenance included | 1 visit, first at 12 months / 12,000 miles | 1 visit, first at 12 months / 12,000 miles |
The included first visit on the gas car covers an oil and oil filter change, a four-tire rotation and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection performed by Certified Service trained technicians. Intervals, ownership costs and the full maintenance picture are on our 2027 Equinox service page, and you can book that first visit through service scheduling without calling.
What These 2027 Equinox Numbers Mean in Practice for Tulsa Drivers
Specification sheets answer questions nobody asks out loud. Here is the translation from the tables above into the decisions that actually get made on our lot.
| The question | What the numbers say |
|---|---|
| Will it fit a standard garage bay? | The gas Equinox measures 74.9 in. wide without mirrors and 183.2 in. long, just over 15 feet. The Equinox EV is 76.9 in. wide without mirrors and 190.6 in. long. Mirrors add width on both, so measure your own opening against the mirrors-out figure. |
| Which one handles a rough county road better? | The gas Equinox rides on 8.08 in. of ground clearance and the Equinox EV on 6.4 in. ACTIV adds all-terrain tires and a uniquely-tuned suspension on top of that. |
| Which second row is easier to live with? | The gas Equinox leads on rear headroom, 39.2 in. against 38.5 in., and on rear legroom, 39.9 in. against 38.0 in. The Equinox EV leads up front on legroom, 41.7 in. against 40.9 in. |
| How far between stops on a road trip? | 400 miles of total range on the front-wheel-drive gas Equinox, 406 with all-wheel drive, against 319 miles EPA-estimated on the front-wheel-drive Equinox EV and 307 with all-wheel drive. |
| How long does the EV need on a home charger? | About 9.5 hours on 240 volts through the standard 11.5 kW capable module, or up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes on public DC fast charging at up to 150 kW. |
| Can it pull a small trailer? | Up to 1,500 lbs on the gas Equinox and 1,500 lbs on the Equinox EV, each properly equipped. |

2027 Equinox Specs FAQ for Tulsa Drivers
How much horsepower and torque does the 2027 Chevy Equinox make?
The 2027 Chevrolet Equinox produces 175 hp at 5,600 rpm and 203 lb-ft of torque from its 1.5L Turbo 4-cylinder engine. That is the only engine offered on the gas car across LT, RS and ACTIV, so output does not change as you move up the trim ladder. Torque arrives low enough in the rev range to make the car feel responsive pulling away from a light on Memorial Drive rather than only at highway speed.
Does the 2027 Equinox still use a CVT?
No. For 2027 the 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive Equinox models. The continuously variable transmission used on front-wheel-drive builds in the previous model year is no longer in the lineup. This is one of the specification changes most likely to trip up a cross-shopper comparing a new 2027 car against a used one on the same lot, so it is worth confirming on the price label of the specific vehicle. The Equinox EV uses single-speed direct drive and has never used a CVT.
Why do some listings show less cargo room behind the 2027 Equinox rear seats?
Because a number of third-party summaries shave roughly a cubic foot off the gas car's behind-the-seats measurement. Chevrolet's own published figure is 29.8 cu. ft. behind the rear seats, rising to 63.5 cu. ft. with them folded, and 29.8 is what is printed here for that reason. The Equinox EV measures 26.4 cu. ft. behind its second row and 57.2 cu. ft. at maximum. Where a listing and the manufacturer disagree, take the manufacturer's figure and then take a tape measure to the car itself: either one swallows a Woodland Hills Mall run with a stroller aboard, and the gas car pulls ahead once the seats go down.
Which 2027 Equinox EV figures change with the drivetrain and which do not?
Range and efficiency move; the hardware does not. Both published ratings come off one 85 kWh pack, and the pack is identical on every trim and both drivetrains. What shifts is the certification: front-wheel drive rates 319 miles EPA-estimated and available all-wheel drive rates 307. The EPA rates that same all-wheel-drive car at 103 MPGe combined and 33 kWh per 100 miles (source: fueleconomy.gov), the second of which is the consumption number a Tulsa owner would use to estimate a monthly charging bill. Read every one of these figures as belonging to a configuration rather than to the nameplate, exactly as the towing and cargo numbers on this vehicle have to be read, and the wrong one never gets attached to the wrong build. What either rating feels like over a Broken Arrow working week is covered on the 2027 Equinox EV page.
What size touchscreen does the 2027 Equinox have?
The gas 2027 Equinox uses an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen on every trim, with Google built-in, OnStar connectivity and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The 2027 Equinox EV uses a 17.7-inch center touchscreen, which Chevrolet describes as the largest among EVs in its class, with Google built-in standard and Google Gemini available. Both screens run native Google mapping and voice, so a destination spoken while merging onto the Broken Arrow Expressway lands without touching a phone. Wireless phone charging is standard from Equinox EV LT 2 upward.
How much can a 2027 Equinox tow in Oklahoma?
When properly equipped, the 2027 Chevy Equinox can tow up to 1,500 lbs, and the 2027 Equinox EV is also rated at 1,500 lbs properly equipped. Properly equipped means the correct hitch and wiring for that specific build, and the figure is a maximum rather than a starting point. That covers a small utility trailer, a light boat trailer for a day on the Arkansas River, or a single-axle box trailer for a local move. It does not cover a travel trailer, and our team will point you to a larger Chevrolet rather than sell the wrong vehicle for the job.
What is the difference in size between the Equinox and the Equinox EV?
The Equinox EV is longer at 190.6 in. against 183.2 in., rides on a longer 116.3 in. wheelbase against 107.5 in., and is wider at 76.9 in. against 74.9 in. measured without mirrors on both. The gas Equinox is taller at 65.6 in. against 64.8 in. and sits higher, with 8.08 in. of ground clearance against 6.4 in. They are two different vehicles on two different platforms, and Chevrolet classes the gas car as a compact crossover and the EV as a midsize SUV.
How many standard driver assistance features does each 2027 Equinox carry?
Over 15 on the gas 2027 Equinox and over 20 on the 2027 Equinox EV, both Chevrolet's own counts. The gas roster is headed by Chevy Safety Assist, whose six members are Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator and IntelliBeam. All six are fitted before the car reaches our showroom on South Memorial Drive, so an LT chosen on price arrives carrying exactly what an ACTIV chosen for gravel carries. The electric car spends its extra items on Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Auto Park Assist, Intersection Auto Emergency Braking and Super Cruise, which the gas Equinox is not offered with for 2027. For a Tulsa buyer the practical question is whether the car should hold its own lane on the turnpike without your hands, and we keep both nameplates on the ground for a same-visit comparison.
What kind of charging port does the 2027 Equinox EV use?
NACS is the connector for 2027, fitted as standard, and it takes the place of the CCS plug the 2026 car used. The practical gain is stall count: far more public locations accept the car with nothing extra in the trunk, which matters on a longer Oklahoma drive rather than at home.
Peak DC fast charging runs up to 150 kW and delivers up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes. At home the standard 11.5 kW capable onboard module refills the 85 kWh battery in about 9.5 hours on a 240-volt circuit, which is one overnight and no daytime thought at all.
What does the 2027 Equinox weigh, and what is its GVWR?
Base curb weight on the gas 2027 Equinox LT with front-wheel drive is 3,428 pounds, and Chevrolet publishes a lineup band of 3,428 to 3,629 pounds unloaded depending on drive type, trim and equipment. GVWR on the LT front-wheel-drive build is 4,850 pounds, which is a per-configuration figure and not a lineup blanket. Never work out payload by subtracting curb weight from GVWR. For the Equinox EV, gross vehicle weight rating varies enough by build that Chevrolet routes it to the label inside the driver's door of the individual vehicle.
