2027 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, exterior, in Tulsa, OK

The 2027 Corvette Z06 is the naturally aspirated one that revs to the moon. Its 5.5L LT6 flat-plane-crank V8 makes 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and spins to an 8,600-rpm redline, which makes it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever put in a production car. It starts at $121,500 before the $2,495 destination charge, and it is co-developed with the championship-winning GT3.R race car.

Where the Stingray is the everyday Corvette, the Z06 is the track weapon that is still street legal, and in Tulsa it is the one owners trailer or drive to a track day and bring back down US-75 the same night. Jim Norton T-Town Chevrolet orders the Z06 to spec, so the aero, the brakes and the seats are yours to choose.

Quick Answer
  • The 2027 Corvette Z06 makes 670 hp from a naturally aspirated 5.5L LT6 flat-plane V8 that revs to 8,600 rpm.
  • It reaches 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 131 mph with the Z07 package.
  • Pricing starts at $121,500 for the 1LZ, $130,400 for the 2LZ and $135,050 for the 3LZ, before the $2,495 destination charge.
  • The Z06 is naturally aspirated and rear-wheel drive; the ZR1 twin-turbocharges the same block for 1,064 hp.
  • It uses the wide Corvette body with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged wheels.

What the Z06 Adds Over the Stingray

The Z06 shares no engine with the rest of the range. In place of the Stingray and Grand Sport's LS6, it runs a bespoke 5.5L LT6 flat-plane-crank V8, and it adds the wide body, forged wheels, bigger brakes and track aero that the Stingray does not offer. It also costs substantially more than the Stingray, which buys a fundamentally different car rather than a faster version of the same one.

2027 Z06 Engine and Drivetrain

The LT6 is a 5.5L naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank V8 making 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 460 lb-ft at 6,300 rpm, and it revs to an 8,600-rpm redline that no other production V8 reaches. It is hand-assembled and shares its architecture with the GT3.R endurance racer. Drive reaches the rear wheels through the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle. With the Z07 package the Z06 reaches 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 131 mph, with a top speed of 189 mph, rising to 195 mph with Z07 aero.

Z06 Chassis and Hardware

The Z06 wears the wide Corvette body and rides on 20x10-inch front and 21x13-inch rear forged wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires as standard. Brembo brakes are standard, with carbon-ceramic rotors available. The car is built to put its 670 horsepower to the ground on a circuit, which is why the hardware, not just the engine, separates it from the Stingray.

The available Z07 Performance Package is the track step: carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Cup 2R tires, a Z07-specific Magnetic Ride calibration and added cooling, and it requires the Carbon Fiber Aero Package, which brings a high wing, dive planes and a front splitter. Z07 is what lifts the top speed to 195 mph.

How high does the 2027 Z06 rev?

The LT6 revs to an 8,600-rpm redline and makes its 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm, the highest-revving V8 in any production car.

What does a 2027 Corvette Z06 cost?

The 1LZ starts at $121,500, the 2LZ at $130,400 and the 3LZ at $135,050, each before the $2,495 destination charge. The convertible and the Z07 package add from there.

Both use a 5.5L flat-plane V8, but the Z06 is naturally aspirated at 670 hp while the ZR1 is twin-turbocharged at 1,064 hp and costs considerably more. The Z06 is the purist's engine; the ZR1 is the outright power play.

What does the Z07 Performance Package add?

Carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Cup 2R tires, a Z07 Magnetic Ride calibration and added cooling, plus the required Carbon Fiber Aero Package with a high wing, dive planes and a front splitter. It raises the top speed to 195 mph.
